Food Hall, Coworking & Community Hub

The NEW Southern Market

Built as a farmers market in 1888, Lancaster’s iconic Southern Market will once again bring people together over food — and so much more!

Opening in January 2022, its centerpiece will be a modern, world-class food hall for the entire community to enjoy: an incubator for restaurant start-ups and a full-on celebration of Lancaster’s culinary diversity.

Southern Market will also feature a central bar and coffee shop, coworking desks and offices, meeting spaces, retail, and community rooms. For locals and visitors alike, Southern Market will become Lancaster’s new favorite place to eat, work, and gather — an exciting destination for culture and collaboration.

Willow Valley Communities — one of the region’s largest employers, community developers, and operators — is overseeing the market’s full restoration and business operations. Through a strategic partnership with local nonprofit Lancaster Equity, Southern Market Lancaster will be a catalyst for community connection, economic growth, and urban revitalization.

Food Hall

Calling All Culinary Up-and-Comers

The Southern Market Food Hall will feature ten chefs working in individual stations, anchored by a central bar. Stations will feature emerging and established chefs, each serving up their own specialty fare, whether local, regional, or international.

We are just underway with a competitive vendor-selection process.

If you are an aspiring chef with a great customer-service ethic, this may be the perfect opportunity. Some experience in a commercial kitchen is preferred, but not required. And if you’re just getting started, no problem! Start-up services are available from ASSETS Lancaster, a permanent office tenant of Southern Market. ASSETS will also participate in vendor selection and training.

Reach out using the contact form below, and we’ll be in touch with more information soon.

Offices & Coworking

Workspace Available

Southern Market will initially offer three basic coworking options:

private offices, dedicated desks, and an introductory “flex” membership. Private offices and dedicated desks offer the convenience of having your own, assigned space, while a flex membership allows you to work at any unassigned space at Southern Market, upstairs or downstairs. Either way, you can tap into a great array of member benefits, including secure, super-fast Wi-Fi, essential office amenities, access to meeting rooms, and networking events. If you are interested in rates, terms, or more details, please submit your contact information using the form below.

Permanent offices integrate with coworking spaces, and Southern Market will be the new home of ASSETS — Lancaster’s leading non-profit entrepreneurial incubator and business accelerator. Willow Valley Communities, Lancaster Equity, and Lancaster Works will also maintain offices in the market.

Join us! There’s no better place to network, brainstorm, and get down to business. Not to mention the best lunch breaks in town!
